Chasing Cars

Posted by Martyn

Yesterday I had a fantastic time looking at cars….not, as I don’t have a car my Dad bless him offered to drive me around (so long as I forked out for fuel of course). Upon leaving the house we passed this black GT TDI less then a mile from our house so I knocked on the door to inquire, it was a 2002 and she was a private seller, there were scratches all over it, paint taken off the bumper at the back and cigarette burns inside. She kept telling me how fast the car goes and what she could get out of it which means she has been ranting it. There was over 75k on the clock and as a private seller she wanted £8,700 for it. Uhh no way, not worth it too much! Anyway we drove al the way to Cheltenham which is a 70 mile round trip, 5 minutes away from the garage I gave the chap a call on the mobile for directions. When we arrived 10 minutes later he had left…not only that but he told me there was 60k on the clock and when I looked through the window there was 76k. Needless to say the manager rang back today asking if I was interested so I had to let him know that I wasn’t happy about being lied to and travelling all that way to find they guy in charge just leave.

In the evening I went out into Bristol with my friend Kate her sister and boyfriend John and a few others. It was a good night, we got chatting and I got to talk football with John which was cool as he supports reading and I have had a lot of run ins with that team in the past.
It’s a shame we never ended in a place with a dance floor with some funky house as I would have liked to make a night of it.

Got in at 4am after travelling home on the bus with loads of loud people, turns out one of the cast from skins was on the bus and all the girls wanted to get a picture with him.
This morning I was up 4 hours later and off we were again to check out a garage where we knew the car wasn’t there and the garage is shut. Not a bad visit, I like to get the feel of a garage before I buy a car from them. Seems like without seeing the car this is the best on I have come across. It’s a Black Golf GT TDI, 2002 with 37k miles on the clock for £8,800. More then I want to spend but if it is in mint condition I am going to take it. It’s the only one I have come across with such low mileage.

Watch this space, I will try and get the day off Tuesday and ask if he could put it back for me. We did go look at other garages but all were either overpriced or had loads of miles on the clock.

I have now finished N3, so sad to finish it :(
