Football and Life

Posted by Martyn

Woohoo football is back!
Saturday we had the pleasure of working our way down to the City ground through piles of traffic because of the match and Bristol balloon fiesta. Lucky Mark had managed to get a ticket to park in the ground otherwise it would have been a nightmare finding a space.
The atmosphere of Ashton Gate was fantastic at first; you could tell that it was the start of the football season in a new league. Both sets of fans were singing and cheering with some friendly and unfriendly banter.
The game itself was flowing in the first half all new players seemed to be performing up to scratch and some nice football was played by both teams. It was not until the 33rd minute that a goal came from midfielder Lee Johnson but celebrations were very short lived as 60 seconds later QPR equalised making it 1-1.
The first half IMO was better then the second as again the football in the second half turned to over the top in the air passes.
Our keeper Basso was replaced as he picked up an injury after QPR scored and he was replaced by Henderson.
I would say that QPR were more over us in the second half managing to hit the post and crossbar and giving us quite a few scares and it was not until the 90th minute when sub Scott Murry scored a wonder goal from 30 yards but like before this was unfortunately short lived as QPR once again scored an equaliser from a free kick on the edge of the box which I would like to see again as I do not think it should have been given.

Sunday after going to the gym I went straight up to the pub to watch Chelsea beat Birmingham and Manchester United draw with Reading.

On a separate note I would like to add in my blog that unfortunately a colleague and friend passed away on Friday night in a car accident. My thoughts go out to his family and two boys. Rest in Peace Chris Wheildon.
